Excellent book for 8-12 year olds about a boy and his friends who learn Esperanto. Initially they want to learn it as a secret language to exclude their schoolmates and grownups, but eventually come to understand its purpose as a language meant to bring people together and not push them apart. Covers themes of language prejudice and linguistic rights, empowerment of children in the educational establishment, and touches on war and world injustice. Fun for grownups to read too!
